How to Check Your CCRIS Report Online via BNM eCCRIS

Edited by Teh Kim Guan, ACMA, CGMA · Updated 2026-06-24

Checking your CCRIS report is completely free, and you can do it online at any time via Bank Negara Malaysia’s eCCRIS portal. The entire process, from registration to viewing your report, takes roughly 15 minutes the first time and under two minutes on every subsequent visit.

This guide walks you through this topic: how to register for eCCRIS, how to retrieve your report, and how to interpret what you see. If you have already read the overview of how CCRIS and CTOS work together, this is the practical follow-up that gets you into your actual data.

What is eCCRIS?

eCCRIS is the secure online portal that Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) built so that individuals can access their own CCRIS records without visiting a branch. Before eCCRIS existed, you had to queue at a BNM office or BNMLINK counter to obtain a printed copy of your report. The portal has been available since 2016 and has undergone several upgrades, the most recent being the mandatory introduction of multi-factor authentication (MFA) effective 27 June 2025.

Your CCRIS report is updated on the 10th of each month and covers a rolling 12-month window.

Who can use eCCRIS?

  • Malaysian citizens with a valid MyKad
  • Permanent residents with a MyPR
  • Foreigners with a Malaysian passport number on BNM record (in-person registration required)
  • Businesses: an authorised representative must visit BNMLINK or a BNM office in person

The steps below cover the standard individual digital registration, which applies to the vast majority of users.

Step 1: Gather what you need before registering

Before you open the eCCRIS portal, make sure you have the following ready:

  • Your MyKad number
  • A Malaysian internet banking account (any bank works), because you will make a RM1 transfer to verify your identity
  • Your mobile phone with a working number, for MFA
  • A mobile authenticator app already installed: either Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator (required since 27 June 2025, per BNM)

The RM1 is refunded automatically within two working days. It is not a fee but an identity-verification step that confirms you are the genuine MyKad holder.

Step 2: Register at eccris.bnm.gov.my

  1. Open https://eccris.bnm.gov.my on a desktop or laptop browser.
  2. Click “Register Now” on the login page.
  3. Key in your MyKad number and follow the on-screen prompts to initiate the identity-verification process.
  4. Complete the RM1 internet banking transfer to the BNM account number displayed. Use the exact reference code shown, because BNM uses that code to match the transfer to your application. Transfer via your preferred bank’s internet banking app or portal.
  5. Once the transfer is confirmed, return to the eCCRIS portal and set your User ID and password.
  6. Choose a security image and enter a security phrase.
  7. Set three security questions and answers for account recovery.
  8. Link your mobile authenticator app by scanning the QR code displayed. This sets up MFA, which is mandatory from June 2025 onwards.
  9. Your account is now active. Log in with your new credentials.

Tip: If you close the browser mid-registration, return to the portal and click “Register Now” again. The system detects a partial registration for your MyKad and lets you resume.

Step 3: Log in and retrieve your report

  1. Go to https://eccris.bnm.gov.my and enter your User ID and password.
  2. Complete the MFA step by entering the one-time code from your authenticator app.
  3. From the dashboard, click “My Credit Report” or the equivalent menu option.
  4. Your CCRIS report will appear on screen. You can also download it as a PDF for your records.

BNM allows one free report check per day. Most Malaysians review monthly or before a major loan application.

How to read your CCRIS report

A CCRIS report has three main sections. Understanding each one helps you spot errors, track your repayment progress, and anticipate what a bank will see when they run a check.

Section 1: Outstanding Credit

This is the most closely scrutinised section. It lists every active credit facility under your name, including home loans, personal loans, car hire-purchase, credit cards, and overdrafts.

ColumnWhat it means
LenderThe financial institution holding the facility
Facility / App TypeType of credit (e.g., housing loan, credit card)
Total Outstanding Balance (RM)Amount still owed
Repayment record (months 1 to 12)“0” = paid on time; “1” = 1 month overdue; “2” = 2 months overdue, and so on
Date Balance UpdatedWhen the lender last submitted data (should be around the 10th of each month)
CapacityWhether you hold the facility as an individual borrower, joint borrower, or guarantor

A clean record shows a row of zeros across all 12 months for every facility. Even one non-zero entry will prompt a lender to ask questions.

Section 2: Special Attention Accounts

This section lists facilities that your lender has classified as non-performing, restructured, or rescheduled. Banks flag accounts here when a borrower has missed multiple consecutive payments or entered a debt restructuring arrangement. If this section is empty, that is a good sign.

Section 3: Applications

Every credit application submitted in the past 12 months appears here, approved or not. Each entry shows the lender, facility type, and date. Multiple applications in a short window can concern a lender, as it may signal financial stress.

How often should you check?

SituationRecommended frequency
Routine financial health monitoringOnce a month
Three to six months before a major loan applicationMonthly, to catch and correct errors in time
After a data dispute is filed with a lenderWithin 30 days, to confirm the correction appears
After clearing the last payment on a facilityOne to two months later, to confirm the account shows a zero balance

Checking your own CCRIS report is a soft inquiry with zero impact on your credit standing.

What to do if you spot an error

CCRIS data is submitted by licensed financial institutions. BNM cannot alter it directly. If a record is wrong:

  1. Contact the financial institution that submitted the error. Request their Credit Department or Dispute Resolution team.
  2. Submit a written dispute with supporting evidence: bank statements, payment receipts, or a closure letter.
  3. Under the Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010, the institution must investigate and resubmit corrected data to BNM if the error is confirmed.
  4. Check eCCRIS again after the next monthly update (around the 10th) to confirm the correction.

If the institution is unresponsive, escalate to BNMTELELINK at 1-300-88-5465 or via the BNM official portal. AKPK branches also have CCRIS kiosks and offer free financial counselling alongside the printout.

Alternatives to eCCRIS

If you prefer not to register online, three walk-in channels provide the same free printout:

  • BNMLINK Kuala Lumpur: same-day report with your MyKad
  • BNM branch offices in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, and other cities
  • AKPK branches nationwide: AKPK staff can print your report and offer free financial counselling at the same visit

The printed report is identical to the online version. eCCRIS simply saves the travel and queue time.

Key takeaways

  • eCCRIS is operated by Bank Negara Malaysia and is the official, free channel for checking your own CCRIS report online.
  • First-time registration requires a RM1 internet banking transfer (fully refunded within two working days) and setup of an MFA authenticator app.
  • Your report covers 12 months of rolling credit history across three sections: outstanding credit, special attention accounts, and recent applications.
  • You can check your report once per day at no cost, with no impact on your credit standing.
  • MFA via Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator has been mandatory since 27 June 2025 (Bank Negara Malaysia).
  • Data errors must be disputed directly with the financial institution that submitted the incorrect record, not with BNM.
  • Pair your CCRIS check with a review of your debt service ratio to get a complete picture of your borrowing capacity.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to check my CCRIS report on eCCRIS? Yes. Bank Negara Malaysia provides one free CCRIS report check per day via eCCRIS. There are no subscription fees or per-report charges for individual users. The RM1 registration transfer is refunded in full.

Will checking my own CCRIS report hurt my credit standing? No. Viewing your own CCRIS data is a self-inquiry and has no effect on your record. Only credit applications by licensed lenders create entries in the Applications section.

How long does eCCRIS registration take? The digital registration process takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes, assuming your internet banking is ready and the authenticator app is already installed. The RM1 transfer confirmation is usually instantaneous with most Malaysian banks.

What happens if I forget my eCCRIS User ID or password? Use the “Forgot User ID/Password” link on the login page. You will need to answer your security questions and complete an MFA step to reset your credentials. If you are fully locked out, contact BNMTELELINK at 1-300-88-5465 for assistance.

My CCRIS shows a facility I have already fully settled. What should I do? Allow one monthly cycle first, since lenders update around the 10th. If the balance still shows after two full cycles, raise a written dispute with the lender’s Credit Department and request a balance-zero resubmission to BNM.
